Why Midwest-bred matters.

Most neocaridina shrimp sold online have been imported — shipped overseas, warehoused, and trucked to distributors before they ever reach a hobbyist tank. By the time they arrive, they've been through significant stress and potential parasite exposure. Ours haven't. Every shrimp we ship was born and raised here in the US Midwest, in water conditions very close to what you have at home. That's why our survival rates are high and why our shrimp settle in fast.

Common questions

What are neocaridina shrimp?

Neocaridina davidi are freshwater dwarf shrimp — small, peaceful, and incredibly hardy. They're one of the best shrimp for beginners and experienced hobbyists alike. Blue Dream and Black Rose are color variants of the same species, selectively bred for their vibrant coloration.

What water parameters do they need?

Neocaridina are adaptable and forgiving. They thrive in: Temperature 65–75°F, pH 6.5–7.5, TDS 150–250, GH 6–8, KH 2–4. Because ours are bred in the US Midwest, they're already acclimated to water that falls naturally within these ranges for most tap water sources in the continental US.

How does shipping work?

All orders ship Monday and Tuesday only — this ensures your shrimp don't sit in a carrier facility over the weekend. We offer Priority Mail ($18) and Overnight ($38). Orders over $195 ship free. Shrimp are packed with oxygen and insulated to maintain safe temperatures during transit.

What is the Live Arrival Guarantee?

If your shrimp arrive dead, we'll send a replacement order at no charge. To make a claim, provide a video of the unopened bag upon arrival showing the deceased shrimp. Note: we are not responsible for packages left in extreme heat before being retrieved. We also include 2–3 bonus shrimp per order as a built-in buffer.

How do I acclimate the shrimp when they arrive?

Float the sealed bag in your tank for 15–20 minutes to equalize temperature. Then slowly add small amounts of your tank water to the bag over 30–45 minutes before releasing the shrimp. This drip acclimation method reduces stress and gives your shrimp the best possible start.
